How to Get There

The two nearest airports are Murcia and Alicante.

Alicante Airport is 40 minutes from Murcia and you can get there either by taxi (around €80) or by bus (€7, departures every hour).

Murcia Airport is 20 minutes from the city center and can be reached by taxi (€29) or by bus (less frequent service).

By car, the journey from Madrid takes about 3 and a half hours.

Murcia also has a high-speed train line from Madrid (RENFE and Ouigo), which takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The Big Day

We will provide a bus service with direct transfer to La Cañada Honda from the center of Murcia, both for the trip there and back.

After the celebration, one bus will leave at 10:30 p.m., and two more will leave at 1:30 a.m., returning to the same departure point (Plaza Santa Isabel).

What to Do in Murcia

Murcia is a charming city full of special corners to discover. One of the must-sees is the Cathedral of Murcia, with its impressive 93-meter-high bell tower, located in Cardenal Belluga Square, where history and modernity blend beautifully. Another fascinating place is the Real Casino of Murcia, a building with spectacular interior decoration, especially its Arabian Hall.

For a pleasant stroll and to enjoy the local atmosphere, Plaza de las Flores is ideal, with lively terraces and a truly Murcian vibe. If you love nature, a walk along El Malecón or a short trip to the Carrascoy Mountains will offer you fresh air and breathtaking views.

As for gastronomy, Murcia is famous for its tapas and traditional cuisine. You simply can’t miss trying zarangollo, a scramble of zucchini, onion, and egg; or la marinera, a typical tapa made of Russian salad topped with an anchovy on a crunchy bread ring. Another star dish is the caldero del Mar Menor, a creamy rice with fish — perfect for seafood lovers. And for those with a sweet tooth, paparajotes, lemon leaves coated in batter and fried with sugar and cinnamon, are the region’s most iconic dessert.

In addition, during the week leading up to the wedding, you’ll be able to enjoy the Spring Festivals, with their famous barracas — the perfect place to taste the most typical dishes in true huertano style.

Where to Eat in Murcia

We know that food is an essential part of any celebration, and we want you to enjoy the best cuisine Murcia has to offer. Whether you’re looking for an elegant restaurant, a place with delicious tapas, or a more local spot, we’ve prepared a selection of our favorites.

La Pequeña Taberna, a local classic known for its quality — don’t leave without trying their famous braised artichoke — and Restaurante Salzillo, the city’s most refined restaurant (famous for its cuisine, though less so for its looks), are two of the best places to enjoy a great meal.

You can also choose Por Herencia, Restaurante Churra, Tándem, or Demo (next to the cathedral), among the many excellent options Murcia has to offer.

If you prefer a more casual lunch or dinner with tapas, here are some excellent choices:

  • La Abadía (cold cuts, tapas, and wines)
  • Los Zagales (typical Murcian tavern)
  • La Cueva del Oso (classic city tavern)
  • Tabanko 825 (Andalusian-style tavern)
  • Los Toneles (typical Murcian food)
  • La Barra de las Flores
  • El Huésped (Plaza de las Flores area)
  • Taberna de Toni
  • El Patio
  • El Garrampón
  • Colando San Julián
  • Café Bar Verónicas

And don’t forget the barracas — open-air huts run by local huertano associations where you can taste the most authentic Murcian dishes while experiencing the region’s rural traditions. You’ll find them in various parks and squares around the city, such as Paseo del Malecón, Plaza Circular, and Jardín de la Pólvora.
